Angel by day, devil by night
I need some help to get things right
I wasted away, what you've given me
now I need someone to set me free
Held down by chains, put on by me
Heavenly Father, would you come and set me free
Oh wretched man, that I have become
how can I undo what I have done
I'm weighed down by debts, that I can't repay
now I want to throw it all away
Held down by chains, put on by me
Heavenly Father, would you come and set me free
No matter where I am,
or where I've been,
You can find me.
No matter who I am,
or what I've done,
You still love me.
You're always looking for me,
to put your arms around me,
and bring me home.
You're always there beside me,
even in the valleys,
I am not alone.
I am not alone! (repeat)
Would you set me free?! (repeat)
About This Song
The sins we carry (and at times cherish) can drag us down like chains, and even bind us in prisons of addiction. Knowing this, God sent His son to pay the price for these debts so that we can be set free.
"For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin." - Romans 6:7
Jesus' mission was to set the captive free (Luke 4:18, Isaiah 42:7) and He delighted in doing so. The parables He told in Luke 15 really illustrate this point. Whether as the Good Sheppard or the Good Father, He is always looking to rescue us and bring us home.
No matter what we have done or who we have become, He always loves us and longs to break the chains of sin and set us free.
